Yigal Kotler Educator, Historian

Yigal Kotler, an educator, and historian (MA in archeology and Jewish education) is a doctoral candidate at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He started his Jewish career as a founder and director of the first Jewish school in Odessa (Ukraine). Since then he obtained extensive international experience working for the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Hillel, Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Jewish schools and community centers in the Former Soviet Union, Israel and the US. Currently, he works for the Global Day of Jewish Learning, the educational initiative of Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz and teaches Jewish subjects at the Solomon Schechter School of Manhattan. Yigal is a founding co-chairman of Limmud FSU USA, the annual conference for Russian Jewish Americans and the author of the book "Essays on the History of Odessa Jews". Throughout his career, Yigal has presented at various conferences on Jewish education, Jewish history, and academic Judaica. He has extensively taught and lectured as well as developed numerous curricula for Jewish educational institutions.
