Dutch-born, New York based Yona Verwer is a painter and installation artist whose work explores identity, history, immigration, tikkun olam, and kabbalah. Her latest series of artwork incorporates Augmented Reality.Her art has been featured in the New York Times, the New Yorker,
the Huffington Post, Ars Judaica, and the NY Daily News. Her Kabbalah of Bling series has been reviewed in "Tradition and Transformation: Three Millennia of Jewish Art and Architecture" by Ori Z. Soltes (2016).Verwer’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in New York and the U.S., including the Y.U. Museum, the Anne Frank Center USA, the Mizel Museum, Reginald Lewis Museum of African-American Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art, the Holocaust Memorial Center, and the Canton Museum of Art. History, Heritage, and the Lower East side, a series of digital
painting collages, produced with Cynthia Beth Rubin, was exhibited at the Jerusalem Biennale 2015, the Ein Harod Museum, the Mizel Museum, and Governors Island.
