Ilya Bratman currently holds the position of the Executive Director at the Baruch College Hillel. In 1992, Ilya Bratman immigrated to Pittsburgh, PA from Moscow, Russia. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Religious Studies. His studies included a year abroad in Israel in 1997 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His involvement with JHP at Pitt and his travels allowed him to get connected to his Jewish identity and fostered growth and desire to learn about Jewish peoplehood. Upon his graduation, Mr. Bratman enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. He served honorably for over four years in Korea, Germany, and Iraq. After the military, Ilya pursued a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Pittsburgh. As a graduate student, Ilya taught college courses and supervised the Language Lab. After the Master’s Program, Ilya ‘immigrated’ to New York. He worked as a Real Estate agent and in 2008, chose to work for the Jewish people. While pursuing an MPA at Baruch, Ilya has worked at JCC in Brooklyn, for Limmud FSU and now at Hillel. Mr. Bratman was born and raised in Moscow, Russia but also grew up in Pittsburgh and is a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
