Yoel Matveyev is a Yiddish poet, writer, researcher and cultural activist from Leningrad who works in New York at the Yiddish Forward newspaper. Among his main fields of historical research are connections between Kabbalah and mathematics, and left-wing interpretations of traditional Judaism, especially links between anarchism and Hasidism.
